More Agriculture in the desert.

On our drive south to the Salton Sea area we were in one of the areas that a lot of our winter vegetables are produced.  The Coachella Valley is bordered by the San Bernardino and San Jacinto Mountains.  The picture of the people and machinery harvesting is in a strawberry field.  Huge berries, but they are not as tasty as Manitoba summer strawberries.  This land is just sand and rocks if not for the irrigation, modern machinery and Mexican labour.

Two coloured salad fixings.  Either spinach or lettuce.  I am betting on spinach.  Krista says lettuce.

a Fig off  the tree.
Harvesting Strawberries.  Each person gets a container,
when full it goes on the conveyor, then to the wagon, then to you.
Strawberries

Old grape vines held in place by wires.

Mechanically trimming the tops of the fig trees.  Winter work while trees are dormant.

Irrigating row crops.

Spinach or lettuce with the San Bernardino Mountains behind.
