Brookings, Oregon to California

Wetter than ever today; not just a mist but full on rain. Left Oregon and crossed into California (without any fanfare).

Stopped in Trinidad for late breakfast. (We really did get far south in only an hour. ;). We had a wonderful view of the harbour as we ate.

We drove on the Avenue of the Giant, which was the original highway through the area. The giants are amazing large redwood trees! We enjoyed the leisurely drive among the trees even though it was raining. It was mystical!!

As we continued south, we drove into the Sonoma Valley, which opened up to vineyards galore! We knew we must be getting close to SanFrancisco as we moved onto busy three and four lane traffic. We were glad we were going towards the city at supper time, because the traffic was crazy leaving the city.

We got into Sausalito, looked around at the gorgeous buildings and shops, checked out the prices of hotels ($295/night) and ultimately drove out of the old town to get a hotel we could afford. :)
