Home Made Lemonade

The neighbours harvest 150 pounds of lemons two times a year off their lemon tree!  We are welcome to as many lemons as we would like. So I made old fashioned lemonade.

I juiced the lemons, and cut up the left over rind. I put sugar over the rind and let it sit for an hour then poured hot water over, stirred and poured it into to squeezed juice. This way you get some of the lemon oil or zest out of the skins which adds a lot of flavour to the juice. The juice is very strong, so I add more water to it to drink. Yummy!!

Look at the size of the lemons!  A real handful!!

Cut in half and then juice them.

Doesn't look like a lot of juice from seven lemons, but boy is it powerful!!

Sugar on the rinds to get the flavour of the oil/zest.
