Via Rail to Quebec City

Don and I traveled by Via Rail to Quebec City. A very nice ride. Smooth and no hassles like when flying. Saw crops, mostly corn and beans.

Arrived in Quebec City. Walked to hotel to drop off bags. Walked downtown to sightsee and nosh. Walked back to hotel to check in. Had a short rest then walked back to Old Quebec to have drinks at Kathy's house. Did you notice the word 'walk'?  Doing lots of walking these days.

To get to Kathy's we walked up the hill, then down the funicular, then over cobblestones to get to her apartment. Interesting location. Between two tourist stores in the old town. Just a doorway. Then we went upstairs to apartment #3. Amazing location. From her terrace you can see the spire of the oldest church in Quebec in one direction and the Chateau Frontenac in the other. There has been archaeological digs in her back courtyard. Some believe that the remains of Champlain may be in this area!  Talk about historic.

When we arrived Kim from Winnipeg had just arrived. Later Brian got home from work. We had a great visit and a spectacular supper. Foie gras that melted in your mouth!
