Holland United Church Fire

A violent thunder storm passed thru South Central Manitoba last night. Don and I were out with friends and family for supper in Portage. As we drive north the sky darkened and roiled. The temperature dropped from 32C to 23C. Then the rain began. It came down in sheets and waves, the wind was very strong from the north west.

We received a text from a friend with a picture of Holland United Church on fire. It was struck by lightning. The fire was contained to the steeple and entranceway, but the entire church will have smoke damage. What a blow to our very small congregation!!  Sigh.

Holland United Church before the fire.

Holland United Church ablaze!

Holland United Church fire just about out.
