Malbaie

We checked into our hotel room at La Malbaie. It is a very historic building, over 150 years old, called Manior du Charlesvoix. It is a very unique building. We enjoyed staying there even though the building is showing its age.

The La Malbaie area is named after an interesting event. Samuel de Champlain anchored in La Malbaie in 1608 for one night. He did not know that at low tide the bay would be completely empty of water. The next morning, his departure was delayed until high tide. He complained, "Ah!  La Malle baye!" (the bad bay), hence it's name.
