We decided to take a small prop uplane to Arusha but it ended up being via Zanzibar, Kilimanjaro, then Arusha. A bit of a milk run but we got to see a lot of Tanzania by air. A lot of the way the land looked quite red with various shades of green. The area around Kilimanjaro looked dry with many small kraalls or farm huts with small corals for livestock.
We arrived at the hillside, Karama Lodge & checked into our thatched hut. (see pic). It is wonderful. Each hut has a great valley view. Very tranquil.
Krista was reading on the balcony 6 minutes after arrival.
Fred & Deb arrived in country this AM and will be here tomorrow evening after 3 days of travel. Will be good to see them. I will have at least 2 cold beers ready for the teacher and the farmer.
In our relax times we are both reading the Girl with the dragon tattoo iby Stieg Larsson 3 book series set in Sweden. Yesterday we had supper & drinks with Henrik K from Stockholm who was awaiting his friend Lillian also from northern Sweden-- very interesting couple. Today at supper we met another Henrik, also from Sweden. They just got back from seeing the mountain gorillas in Rwanda. We definitely experiencing the Swedish connection. (;-{
Mountain gorillas. . . might be an interesting side trip. No pictures of Kilimanjaro from the air? Still jealous.
