Today's drive involved unique artisan shops and wilderness. The best of two worlds!
The drive south of Ingonish was twisting and turning along cliff edges. Pretty wild! Lots of motor and bicyclists. Not sure I would want to bike on these narrow roads.
Between Wreck Cove and North Shore we stopped at three different artisan shops. The first, Sew Inspired, was very unique. A seamstress/ milliner. Tons of hats and some capes. She helped us choose hats that would suit Us. Check out the photos. The proprietor is a costume designer as well. Wonderful shop!
Glass Artisans Studio was another unique shop. Glass blowing, fusing and candle work all crafted there. We watch the proprietors daughter glazing pennies into earrings. Was able to purchase a replacement glass iris for Joan; she bought her original one here 2 years ago.
Our last artisan stop was North Shore Woodsmiths. Gorgeous bowls, vases, jewelry boxes, etc. Makes me hope Don will begin fine woodworking again.
Lunch was at a small coffee shop in Baddeck. Excruciatingly hot and muggy. Here we left the Cabot Trail and ventured around the Bras d'Or Lake area. Beautiful view from atop of Marble Mountain. This area reminds me of Lake of the Woods, except on a larger scale.
Stopped at Dundee Golf Resort for the night. Don did a round of golf, I drove the cart. Unbelievable views from the course! Supper watching the sun set over the ocean from the dining room at the resort. Wonderful sleep in air conditioned room. Sigh.
