Cape Breton Highlands National Park

Hard to leave our ocean view cabin. Such a wonderful view! But we knew we had other sights awaiting.

We entered The Cape Breton Highlands Nation Park on the west shore with some amazing cliffs to great us. There are many stops along the trail.

Are you up for the red chair challenge? there are 10 red adirondack chairs strategically placed in the park. Guess where I am when sitting in this red chair.

We saw dozens of Northern Gannets diving into the water to catch fish. It is interesting how they fly by and area, then swoop up high, turn and dive like a bullet into the water. Don got some awesome photos with the telephoto lens.

Best part of the day today was whale watching on a zodiac launched from Pleasant Bay. On the trip we were able to see dozens of Pilot Whales. The were swimming in small groupings of up to six in a trail of up to possibly 50 - 75! What a sight! We also saw seals, more Gannets and one bald eagle.

The weather has been very hot. Today it was 30C. It even felt warm out whale watching on the ocean. Surprising! On land it seems very hot, and humid too!

Another great food day today. Lunch was lobster burgers; supper was haddock with crab for me and lobster, scallops, mussels on angel hair pasta for Don.

Now we are resting at the Island Inn B & B. refreshing breeze coming off the ocean. Heavenly!
