On our walk around Carrick on Shannon we spotted a brand new barge that is a boatel (boat hotel). We stopped in and spoke with the owners. Mary is from Leitrium and Jorge from Sweden. They had spent the last year or so building this barge and have just had it in the water for about three weeks. They plan to offer it as a hotel to a maximum of four people or when not rented to use it as a tapas and wine bar. It would be lovely to travel down the River Shannon on it with them. Perhaps another time?
Meanwhile the Lovely Leitrium hosted a duo of Italian Musicians as part of the Music Festival going on in Carrick on Shannon. So we attended the concert. Lots of fun!!
