Mavericks - Sedona Group Quilt

At the Mavericks meeting the six women who made the group quilt entitled Sedona discussed how they made it. It is an awesome group quilt!!

First the group came up with an image they liked by merging a group of photographs from the Sedona area. Then they took the image and enlarged it, divided it into six long strips and then each member drew a number to decide which strip they would have to piece.

The group shared some common fabrics for the backing, sky and water. Otherwise all fabrics and techniques were of their own choosing. When all the pieces were completed they decided to "quilt as you go" piece the entire project together. (Originally they thought it would hang as individual strips.)
