Segway Tour of New Orleans

Five minutes of training and we were off on our rental Segway's to tour New Orleans. We began in the French Quarter where the streets are full of pot holes and cracks reminiscent of Canadian roads!  Not the best training ground!  The bottoms of my feet were aching just like when I wear skates. Too much tension in my feet!!

First stop was Jackson Square which houses a formal layout of buildings including St Louis Cathedral, the Cabildo (Spanish for Cabinet the seat of early government of the area), the Presbytery, a statue of Jackson, and apartments having the fanciest iron railings in this city.

Back on the Segway, feeling more refreshed and a tad more confident, we headed to Louis Armstrong Park. Inside this park is Congo Square where the Black slaves were free to congregate on Sundays to share music and fellowship. Ultimately, where the beginning of Jazz music sprang from.

Then on to the Treme district to let loose on the Segway's in a parking lot and then for a restroom and coffee break.

Lastly, we headed south back thru the French Quarter to the Mississippi River, which is wide and muddy!  We passed by the French Market which reminded me of the Byward Market in Ottawa.

A great tour. I would highly recommend it. We had a great sunny warm day for it too!!
