The Wave Tour is held twice a year, once in the spring and again in the fall on the September long weekend. It is a chance to visit artists in their studios to view and purchase artwork. I like seeing the process the artists go through to create their works of art.
We began the Wave Tour south of Winnipeg Beach in Matlock with a stop at CJ Tennant Jewellery. This lady had items made of beads, semi-precious gems and fine silver chain displayed in her cabin facing the lake. Pretty location and yummy cookies too!
Also in the Matlock area we stopped at the Paper Fifrildi (Icelandic for butterfly), featuring recycled paper created by Milli, a young down-syndrome lady. She demonstrated her work and we were able to buy paper, cards and jewelry by this amazing artist!
Further north we stopped at Evelin's "What? Clay Art & Curious" studio. The house, studio and yard was all neatly eclectic and wonderful to wander around. Her work is primarily sculpture.
Next stop was the Nepenthe Studio where Cathy creates unique jewelry. We squeezed into her tiny, hot and humid studio to see her rough metalwork and enamelled samples. Very creative!
Over to Heidi's studio 'Runs With Scissors were we saw some fabulous fibre art! Wow!! She creates a pile of clothes all hand dyed, as well as quilts. She is an amazing artist!
Down the rural road a short walk is CF Casey Guitars. His musical works of art included dulcimers, uke's, mandolins, tenor guitars, etc. Wow! Had a chat with his wife Kate, a local Hollander, who tore some muscles in her knee and is hobbling around with a cane, poor woman!
On up to Gimli were we stopped to shop for clothes and shoes at Johannson's. What a great shop, they carry wonderful brands of shoes and clothes. Very comfy sandals on sale.
We checked into our suite at the Lakeshore Hotel. It had two bedrooms, living room, kitchen and 2 bathrooms. We were very cosy. Lots of laughs!!

Dark clouds roll into Gimli.
View from the balcony in our suite.
