First Water Creek Canyon Hike

This hike starts at a pullout on Highway 88 (before the viewing point on the way to Canyon Lake). It takes you across the Wilderness boundary into First Water Creek with a narrow canyon and pools is seasonal water.

It was tricky to find the trail head. You just had to find your own way down from the road  pavement. It was rather steep and slippery with loose gravel.

We hiked down about 300 feet and then followed the First Water Creek to where it spills into Canyon Lake. A gorgeous hike; nice to be near water in a desert.    We did eventually see a few rock cairns that marked the trail, but it mostly was an unmarked adventure for us.
