It is a very sad day today. We had to put our beloved pet, Matt the Cat, down. He had been suffering from bone cancer in his jaw. His vet, Paula Conrad from South Central Vet Clinic, tried her best to cure him by removing a couple of teeth and scraping away the necrotic bone. Matt was able to improve enough to enjoy some of this summer. He really did enjoy his pampered life on the farm.
Matt first arrived at our home fifteen years ago, from our nephew, Greg, who needed a new home for Matt, as his partner became allergic to the indoor cat. Matt, being a city cat, was very unused to being outside. He walked very gingerly on the grass for the first couple of days. However, it didn't take long for cat instincts to kick in and he became a good mouser.
Matt was a very good sport. He sat patiently as Leah and her girlfriends dressed him up in doll clothes! He also allowed young children to pet him and tug at his fur. He quickly escaped from these tortures by hiding somewhere in the house, but he never scratched or acted in an unfriendly manner.
Today we say goodbye to our dear pet. A city pet turned to country master of the yard and house. We will miss you dearly.
