Another busy day

The tile work is progressing nicely!! All the deconstruction of existing tile was finished yesterday and laying of the new tile has begun. It looks awesome! Alfonso, the tile layer, has a wet saw for cutting tiles set up just outside the garage. He does very intricate precision cuts with it so that the tiles fit around corners etc. perfectly. A wonderful craftsman.

Ron, a cabinet refinisher, stopped by the house to show us samples of refinished cupboards. The oak cupboards we have are over 20 years old, they need some cleaning, but the wood is in good shape. We are wondering how to refinish them. Ron will give us some quotes of different options - painting, strip and stain, and designer refinishing (some sanding down with a stain/paint finish). We will leave the cupboard work for our return in the fall.

Tom, an appliance mover, picked up our appliances that we bought second hand off Craig's list and delivered them for us. It wasn't too far to haul them.

It is another beautiful day here - 86F and a slight breeze, perfect!! A group of us are going out for supper and entertainment tonight. Yippee.

Second hand appliances arrive, via Toms Pickup.

Tile laying begins.

Alfonso's helper, Benenicio, cutting tile with a wet saw.

Tile from an ants eye view.

Ron, the cabinet refinisher salesman, showing us different sample.

Styles of refinishing - top two left rows are painted; bottom two left rows are sanded and stained; and entire board on right is slightly sanded and paint/stained called Designer Refinishing.
