Crocus Walk
Leah, Don and I had a lovely walk in the sand hills. It was a gorgeous day. Glad we went as there was snow the next day!!
More Wool Felting
I tried out some wool felting on my own after our lesson with Rosaline.
I was inspired to do a crocus scene after a trip to the sand hills.
I tried out some raw wool felting of brown fleece for a lamb portrait I'm working on.
Also, I added some stitching and dry felting to the wet wool felting piece I started at Rosaline's.
Wool Felting Play Date
Helen and I traveled to Rosaline's house for a wool felting lesson.
We layered four plies of wool then added four more layers of coloured wool to create a design. This batt was wet with hot soapy water and rolled (to create friction) over 800 times to create a wet felted wool piece. Tiring but rewarding!

Roses Love the Desert
News to me! Roses love the heat of the desert and as long as they receive water to their roots they are happy. The nice part of a rose planted in the desert is that they do not seem to get black mold on the leaves which is a problem in more humid areas.
Don and I would like to plant a couple of rose bushes at our Mesa home so did some exploring at the Valle Del Oro rose garden. The roses seem to be in full blossom right now. Gorgeous!

Blooming Cacti
A very simple cactus in our backyard had the most elegant blossoms. Reminiscent of the ugly duckling story.

Petroglyphs
On our drive to Yuma, Beth and I stopped at Painted Rock to see the ancient petroglyphs on basalt lava rock. Check out these rock images.

Don, Beth and I walked Mill Avenue to check out various artisans and vendors displaying there wares. Also there was a sidewalk chalk art event. We saw artists chalking there art work. Very nice!
