From beginning to end in Thirty Minutes

John Hewitt is a broad sweeping watercolourist. He paints from a quick sketch that he places on his dry watercolour paper with a light paint line. He then soaks the paper with water, fills in the large areas going from light to dark, then puts in smaller details at the end. It is amazing to watch him work. He is able to complete a painting in about half an hour. He then takes the piece into the studio, hangs it with a mat to critique it. Any changes or additions are made at this time.
