Fibre Arts Network Retreat

Beth, Val and I arrived at Providence Retreat Centre in Edmonton for the FAN annual retreat. Checked into our rooms which were very hot!!  Felt like we had arrived in Africa rather than Edmonton!

The evening opener to the FAN retreat was a challenge piece of fibre art. Each of us were to complete a journal-sized fibre piece that was to challenge us. We shared the ideas behind our pieces and then through a draw we were able to each select a piece to take home with us. It was great fun. A good way to meet people and see a sampling of fibre work.

The brand new FAN logo (left) and the challenge pieces.

Closer look at the challenge pieces.

Jenny's cityscape piece.  Challenge to use turquoise colour.

Pippa's piece with small strip piecing.

Mary's piece a hand dyed fabric that she found images in.  Beth chose this piece.

Judy's piece uses many techniques to include text.

Dianne's felted piece, challenge of a night sky.
This is the piece I chose to bring home.

Val's piece using a piece of her own hand dyed with a glass cabochon attached with beading.

Beth's piece that she actually finished.  Val picked it.

Here is my piece that I used a piece of flower pounding in.
