Trunk Show at Mad B's

My local quilt store, only a bike ride away, is a Bernina store called Mad B's. tonight there was a trunk show by Jill Finley of Jullily Studio.

Jill makes modern looking quilts by fusing old techniques of piecing and appliqué using modem fabrics. She has her own line of quilting fabric by Henry Glass Studios and her own line of thread through Aurofil. I will be taking a workshop with her tomorrow afternoon.

Here are some of her quilts using her own lines of fabric.

Madonna, the owner of Mad B's Quilt Shop, introducing Jill.

Jill, and one of her sister (she has 5) holding a quilt.

The piecing on this quilt is the traditional log cabin with tulip applique.
Doesn't look traditional in this style and these colours.

Half square triangles with flower appliques in centre and leaves around border.

Celtic knot work type piecing with applique.
Note the triangle edge is floating flying geese that wrap around front to back.

Gorgeous colours - sorry this photo doesn't do them justice!
Note the scalloped edge.

This quilt is called Serenity.
It is the one I am taking a class on tomorrow.  My colour way is quite different.

The garden gate in this quilt is all done with bias tape!!

Gorgeous fabric!
This fabric, as with most of the fabric in the quilts we have seen, are made from the sample run of fabrics before they are even mass produced for the public.

More samples.
Note the simple piecing enhanced with applique!!

Berry Quilt.
All of the words are created using bias tape.
