Art Show

Don and I attended the Central Region Juried Art Show in Portage on Thursday night. We had both entered some art. I entered a landscape triptych, Don entered three photos.

We both have a piece touring the central Manitoba region. Don's black and white photo of San Francisco Eat Crab and my triptych will be at 4 art galleries this summer - Portage, Morden, Holland and Carman. The triptych was also chosen to go to the Rural and Northern show in Wpg for September.

Donna and Craig will have to wait until October to hang their commissioned triptych. Sorry folks!!

Quilting with friends

Coreen stopped by. We discussed some possible African quilts from Don's pictures. She traced a photo of a male lion peeking out from behind a tree.

Yvonne was able to complete two quilts. One ABC quilt for MPQ and one queen sized wonky stars quilt that she named 'Twinkle Twinkle'. It looks great!

Quilt Retreat Show-n-Tell

At lunch on Sunday there was a show and tell among the quilters. Lots of gorgeous quilts! Sew many ideas, so little time!!

THAASpring Quilting Retreat

Busy weekend! Quilting, Ladies Night and local social. Whew!!

I took Coreen Zerr's quilting class on Strip Pieced Landscapes. We were required to bring a landscape photo that we wanted to work on. I chose a photo Don took in Arizona of a Saguaro cactus with a Mesa cliff in the background and Prickly Pear cactus in the foreground.

We began by strip piecing the sky using fabric in exact (or close to) colour hues. This took a lot of time but was fun. It was exciting to see the various skies developing.

The next day we began to add other pieces of the landscape. I added the ground and began work on the cacti.

Now she needs to add her trees, lamp-posts and other thread-play.

Ladies Night at Tiffany's

Ladies Night was a tremendous success! The 'Tiffany's theme was a real hit. Almost all attendees wore black and pearls. Some even went Audrey Hepburn casual - head scarf, long shirt and leggings. Totally classic!

A group of us spent the day decorating. The Tiffany's theme was carried out through here as well. Even the ladies rest room was decked out!

Visit Leah

Finally got in to Winnipeg to visit with Leah. She has a new couch and TV stand as congratulations on graduating from University gift from Grandma and Grandpa R.

Monkey is still playful. He is getting spring fever; just like the rest of us!

Finished Triptych

Yahoo! A huge project completed. It feels like a great accomplishment!

This art piece, commissioned by Donna and Craig, is entered in the Central Region Juried Art Show. It will be hanging in Portage May 2. Come see it in its entirety.
