Sunday and Monday of the long weekend was spent at the Zeghers Quilting Den. Pantograms were used on three different quilts. Just as we got all details figured out and the long arm was running like a dream, we sold it!! The dear machine is off to Saskatchewan. Now we can get serious about upgrading.

Portage is Camelot today for Lorena
Big Brothers Big Sisters organization of Portage la Prairie hosted a luncheon with local Manitoba harpist Lorena McKinnett today. What a wonderful event, full of story and song.
Thank you to Auna for being the conduit and bringing the Lady of Shallot to perform in such an intimate setting. Awesome event!

Last year for plum tree
30 years ago this fall we planted two Pembina Plum trees in our yard. My Mom and Dad gave them to us as part of our wedding gift They have beautifully big and delicious fruit. However, I guess they have a fairly short life span. One tree died off a few years ago, and this one is rotting at the trunk. I guess we will have to take it out this year.

Barnswallow Quilt Show
Attended the quilt show in Morden yesterday with Joan and Shirley. Met up with Yvonne and JoAnn. Here are some of our favorite quilts:
Saw this Katie Freisen quilt design in a few different colours, but we liked this one best! Beautiful batiks prints in natural, beige, taupe, and brown. (More colourful than the photo seems to show.)
A quilt that Grandma Yvonne may have to quilt for Sofia when she graduates to a big person bed. (Sofia that is, not Grandma.)
All quilt designs from the book Quilted Symphony. The three sisters need to have a quilting retreat to try out these designs. We have had the book for ages!!
This quilt reminded me of a Hawaiian sampler quilt. Similar to the first quilt I ever made (all by hand) in the 1980s.
More abstract art quilts that I liked.
Here is an excellent scrappy quilt.
Good project to keep in mind to use up some of those scraps I seem to accumulate!!
An art quilt table runner done with circles/arcs, some are woven into each other.
(Nice photography work Yvonne!! Or is it just the quick subject?)
Some more art quilts:
1. Cabin and creek (top left) is done with an angular strip piecing method.
2. Forest scene has a bargello background and appliqued trees.
3. Garden gate is a gorgeous creation by Barb Westfall and Pearl Dueck.
